I’m originally from Philadelphia, PA but moved to Virginia in 2004 to further my education at Old Dominion University where I earned a BFA in Painting and Teaching Licensure in Visual Arts preK-12.  I got married to my best friend in June 2011 and have been enjoying every moment of married life.  I work in Virginia Beach, VA as the Senior Graphic Designer at phatWORKs, a graphic and web design company based out of Baltimore, MD.  I am also very active in my church as a teen leader for our youth ministry.  I dream to one day spend at least a year abroad serving in a third world country and serving the community is very important to me.  I hope to be a professional art educator and continually pass on my passion for art and life to my students through creative and innovative teaching.

I am constantly inspired and motivated by the world around me and the people and places I’ve experienced.  I spent my past few summers as the Arts & Crafts Director for Camp Hope for Kids, an overnight summer camp which serves kids around the region as well as many underprivileged children from North Philadelphia.  I also spent my previous 5 summers interning with a non-profit company called HOPE worldwide and have traveled to many places including New Orleans, Los Angeles, Chicago, Kingston Jamaica, and Chennai India to serve the poor and needy in those communities. I’ve also spent many months during these summers working with a program called Camp Miracles, a mentoring day camp program for the inner city youth of North Philadelphia, the poorest area of the city.

My compassion and love for people is what drives me to teach. My travels have showed me many different cultures as well as ways and quality of life. I want to use this passion to fuel my teaching and challenge myself to never stop growing, but rather to learn something new each day. I love oil painting and photography and my innate fascination with the human condition and desire to capture the natural world around me inspires my artwork.
